A Call to Professionals!

Kitchen Help Needed (not that sort!)

We need to find a co-ordinator for the furniture and kitchen equipment team. This could be your chance of making sure we are all sitting comfortably and get the fit right first time!

Professional IT Services

The church and new build must be state of the art in IT and WiFi  so can you help specify what we need?

Invitations to Tender Sent Out

The Quantity Surveyor has checked the drawing pack and the St Mary’s building project has gone out to tender! Woohoo!

Four companies have been invited to submit tenders for the construction with a reply deadline of the first week of May:

  • Gaiger Bros of Devizes
  • Ellis & Co of Shepton Mallet, who say that they are “Craftsmen in the Conservation of Historic Building”. Work includes St James, Trowbridge; St John, Pewsey and St Gregory, Cheltenham.
  • Ken Briggs Contractors of Bristol. Who have worked on The Vyne, Basingstoke; Wells Cathedral and NT Tyntsfield.
  • Emery Building Contractors of Bathford. Renovated the Hauser & Wirth art gallery, Bruton and Beckford Tower and Museum, Bath

Getting it Right - Project Structure & Architectural Heritage Grant

Getting the VAT back. The Parochial Church Council of St John with St Mary (PCC) has approved further detailed research into the most effective project structure going forward. This includes ways of recovering the VAT paid out as the building goes forward.

They also want to ensure the correct insurance protection is in place for the PCC as Trustees and all others engaged in the project, including members of the St. Mary Future Group (StMFG).

The project has received an £8.5k grant from the Architectural Heritage Fund and we are working with them and their experts to ensure that the appropriate legal structure and insurance protection is in place.

We look to set up of a not-for-profit company to let the contract to the chosen building company and will employ a Clerk of Works to oversee the construction phase on behalf of the parish.
